Helicopter Rides over NYC

New York City

I currently live in New York City, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.  New York City is full of amazing food from all over the world, tons of shopping, endless shows and entertainment, and is the home to many famous landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, and Central Park.  There is a lot to see and a lot of adventures to find.  Although I’m a city resident, I had way more fun over the last week acting like a tourist with my in-laws.  We showed them around the city but one final thing we go to do was an NYC helicopter ride.

Helicopter Tours

Adrenaline is one of the companies that offers NYC helicopter tours.  A few days ago I had the opportunity to do one of the 30 minute sightseeing helicopter rides, booked through Adrenaline.  It was a whole new perspective of NYC and was amazing to see my apartment from an overhead view!  Adrenaline offers tours anywhere from 15-35 minutes and from a couple different heliports.   You can pay extra for a private ride as well if you prefer.

Our Ride

There were 4 of us together for the helicopter tour and since it holds 6 people, we were grouped with a couple.  While we were awaiting our ride, they came around to ask us our body weights (don’t be shy, it’s necessary).  They use the weights of the group to seat everyone properly in the helicopter so that the weight is balanced and the flying is safe.  We took off and headed straight up to amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and Governors Island (National Monuments!) from above.  Take a look at the map of our entire ride below but you can see we were able to see Central Park, Columbia University, and some other important and historic sites found in New York City.

    Hi Rachel,

Great snaps! In NYC too; acting a bit like a tourist myself even though I have been here 700 times as a New Jerseyite. Walked through Central Park today. CP run tomorrow morning. Enjoying our East Harlem house sit through Saturday. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Central Park is a pretty nice place. Stay safe in Harlem!

Some cities just look so much more beautiful when viewed from the top, and NY is definitely one of them! I’m not afraid of heights but something about getting on a helicopter scares me… just a little.

Haha! Yes NYC looks much better from the top than it does when you are in it! Oh and I thought I would be afraid when I got in the helicopter, but once we got up I think I was too excited to be afraid.
