#1: Autumn in the Poconos // Urban Escapist

Earlier this year I made it to the border of Pennsylvania (and New York) on the Upper Delaware River, part of the eastern edge of the Poconos.  Ever since I have intended to return to get deeper into the Poconos region because it was so beautiful and peaceful.

Read about my resort stay in Delaware River cabins!

I loved reading about some other great places to see in the Poconos, especially featuring colorful autumn photos (ahh one of my favorite things!).  If you live out on the East Coast, the Poconos has a lot of great hiking trails with a lot of history (read the post for more detail!).

My complete “life list” for New York outdoor adventures!

#2: 14 Beautiful Places to See in New Mexico, USA // Hand Luggage Only

Because some states are just underappreciated….except Nebraska – anyone want to prove me wrong?

A post shared by Tracy Lee (@tracyleephotos) on

If you’re an outdoorsy person you’re probably aware of a lot of these things going on but in case you aren’t, here’s a great summary.  For example, I knew that the NPS was planning to change the prices of park passes, but I did not know anything about the Bigfoot Conference.  Okay, so maybe I don’t care about a Bigfoot Conference…but maybe you do?

If you’re out of the loop on public lands and monuments, please also check out the roundup from the Monumental Day of Blogging (including my New York-specific post).

What do you think is the most under-appreciate state in the USA?

New Mexico is a super magical land and is definitely under appreciated. I was there earlier in the fall, fell in love with it and came back wanting to tell everyone about it and got a lot of weird looks. Apparently people think it’s open desert there, and that’s it, which is pretty far from the truth. I’m sure there’s some magical stuff in those middle states, too – like Kansas or Arkansas or somewhere like that, but I don’t know anything about them.
